Women relays in Cross country skiing will be at 12:00 in Pokljuka

Cross country skiing for Nordic combined will be in Pokljuka at 13:45. Start lists are already available.

Cross country part in Nordic combined team competition will be in Ziri and not in Pokljuka. The race will start at 16.00.

Due to changes, 2 of 4 teams are missing (:out of the tournament) in group A category age 25+, we are forced to change competition format in second stage.

Here are changed rules, please use it:

1. All winners of the groups A, B and C are qualified to the semi-final matches.
2. All second placed teams after group matches in groups A, B and C are joining group D, where each team will play one match against each of the other teams in that group.
3. The winner of the group D is qualified to the semi-final match.

ALPINE SKIING:
Competition will take place in the course Podlesna, which is the ski slope by hotel Larix in Kranjska Gora.

BIATHLON:
Relays must be reconfirmed one day before the competition until 12:00 in the Information Center. Additional relays can be also registered one day before competition until 12:00.

CROSS COUNTRY SKIING:

Schedules for futsal will be available on Saturday, because additional groups have been registered.

ICE HOCKEY:
Schedules will be available on Wednesday. The competitions will take place in Bled and Kranj. More information will be available soon.

SKI JUMPING:
Due to lack of snow and better conditions for competitors, ski jumping competitions will be now taking place in Kranj and Ziri, where is a completely rebuilt Nordic center. Some changes of the schedule have been made and you will be informed about that.

New section GAMES INFO has been created which will be updated with basic information about the Games. Some information will be also available in German, French, Italian and Russian.

Today list of participants registered for the Games has been added. Please check your registration.

Those who have not paid must send confirmation of payment no later then on Monday, January 11, 2010 to info@2010mastersgames.com, otherwise registration will be cancelled.

If there is a mistake in your registration, corrections must be sent to info@2010mastersgames.com no later then January 12, 2010.

ACCREDITATIONS
Each participant will receive accreditation, which is mandatory for the start of the races and beginning of the matches. Each accreditation will have own number (set already at the registration – Axxxx). You will check your number at the board and then pick up your accreditation in the line where your number will be written.
 
Accreditations can be only picked up in Bled Information office (Bled Festival Hall, Cesta svobode 11, Bled).

ACCOMMODATION OFFICE
Accommodation office will be in Bled Information Office. Those who have booked accommodation thru organizing committee and haven’t received vouchers yet will be able to pick them there. Also other matters about accommodation can be solved there (additional rooms, money matters,…).
 
TRANSPORTATION
Transportation among venues will start first day of the Games and will go on regular schedule for minimum charges. The schedule will be known soon.

NEWS FROM SLOVENIA
Slovenia is now covered with snow! With little of luck and further winter conditions you will experience true winter fairytale!

The registration period has closed and there will be more then 2.500 people participating in six different sports from more then 45 countries! It will be a unique experience for everyone.

Start lists will be available on January 10 as well as the games schedules for ice hockey teams and futsal teams.

You can still check your registration here. If you haven’t receive any email for additional data, then everything is all right with your registration.

Soon all the schedules, transportation information and social activities will be known.

Would you like to have preparation match before the official start of competition? You can train on Sunday, January 24 and Monday, January 25 between 8:00 and 20:00. Send request to info@2010mastersgames.com and we will match the teams to have some practice before the competition. The price for one period (one hour) is 150 EUR (rent of the ice).

The tenth best cyclist in Tour de France in 2008 - Tadej Valjavec proves that any recreational athlete can join World Winter Masters Games and compete in favorite winter sport. Slovenian athlete will change bicycle for cross country skies and race with other masters skiers on 30 km long track.

One of the best Slovenian cyclists and two times Olympic team member is great example that winter and summer sports can be combined. His participation inspired many cross-country skiers around the world and the number arose to 600. These sure are great predications that World Winter Masters Games will be true festival of sport. Since it is still possible to register (until December 25, 2009) many cross country skiers will come to Slovenia to have “Olympic” style experience. Register here

President of International Football Federation (FIFA) has in a letter, which was sent to Organizing Committee of World Winter Masters Games and 208 FIFA members, expressed his enthusiasm that FUTSAL is part of World Winter Masters Games:

Following the decision of the Executive Committee at its meeting on 29 September 2009 in Rio de Jeneiro, Brasil, to support the inclusion of futsal in the inaugural World Winter Masters Games to be held in Bled, Slovenia, from 25 to 31 January 2010, we are pleased to provide you with the information related to the World Winter Masters Games.

The International Masters Games Association was founded by international sports federations, and is recognized by the International Olympic Committee. THe organization encourages mature athletes from all over the world to practice sports regularly. With the awareness that competitive sport can continue throuhout life and improve personal fitness.

FIFA is please with the inclusion of futsal on the programme for the World Winter Masters Games and would like to encourage its members to participate in the event.

This letter and support from FIFA has encourage futsal teams across the World to register. More teams will allow better competition and larger scale of international teams. The number of registered teams at the World Winter Masters Games 2010 is increasing every day. In an effort to ensure all registered teams excellent conditions, the Organizing Committee, which met last week, decided that only 20 more teams from whole world can be registered. According to activities with “football” countries like Brazil, France, England, Portugal, Netherlands and many others the tournament is expected to be filled up quickly. It seems that this FIFA opportunity for Olympic experience is not to be missed!

Participants from almost 40 countries have registered for the first winter edition of Masters Games. Among sport lovers who will experience olympic spirit will be also Slovenian ski jumper Joze Slibar who will change jumping skis for cross country one. At the World Winter Masters Games he will compete with cross country skiers in age group 75 - 79 on 5 km long track.

Slovenian eagle jumped 141 m on February 24, 1961 and set a world record. Joze is the only Slovenian ski jumper who set a record in ski jumping.

Participants in cross country skiing and biathlon will have the unique opportunity to be one of the first to ski on the new tracks of completely new sport center in Pokljuka. The center have been opened just recently and to a great surprise to all, the opening was accompanied by first snow which covered Pokljuka plain. The new center offers everything for organization of big sport events like World Masters Games and World cup in biathlon, which will take place in December.

That World Winter Masters Games are for every proves new team registered for playing in futsal. Slovenian leading newspaper Nedeljski dnevnik will participate with a team of journalists, actors and even Olympic winner in gymnastics. The team captain of the team competing in age group 60+ will be Tone Fornezzi Tof, who is a well known Slovenian journalists. He will be accompanied by slovenian actor Janez Hočevar Rifle and two time olympic medalist in gymnastics Miroslav Cerar.

After the number of teams participating in ice hockey have reached number 20, futsal teams seems not to be far behind. Alpine skiing event is on the good way to become one of the events with most multinational participation. There are few skiers with such a charisma and passion for competing, as is Christian Mayer. He will join other sportsmen and participate at World Winter Masters Games. An Austrian skier which love for skiing and snow is still very much alive is looking forward to come to Bled and join friends in all winter sports. The two times winner of Kranjska Gora World Cup in 1998 and 2000 is thrilled to come again to this lucky spot.

After Slovenian skiers Urska Hrovat and Jure Kosir has confirmed their participation at the World Winter Masters Games also other best Slovenian athletes followed. Tadej Valjavec, one of the best Slovenian cyclists, has shown that he shares the passion also with winter sports athletes. Valjavec will compete in Cross Country Skiing.

Two of the best former Slovenian skiers already register to compete at World Winter Masters Games. The bronze Olympic medal winner in slalom from Lillehammer Jure Kosir and third best women in slalom in Sierra Nevada World Championships Urska Hrovat decided to feel the “olympic” spirit again! Now you have the chance to compete with the best Slovenian skiers!

We have decided that Women Ice hockey tournament will be part of the World Winter Masters Games. The agreement was reached after special interest by many women ice hockey teams. Ladies come and join World Winter Masters Games Hockey tournament and experience olympic spirit!
